Eugene P. Maruschak

Eugene P. Maruschak, (Gene) 59, of Harrisburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 03, 2020, at UPMC Pinnacle Osteopathic Community General Hospital. He was born on August 15, 1960, in Philipsburg, PA, to his mother Anna J. Maruschak. Gene was a 1979 graduate of Philipsburg/Osceola Area High School. After high school, Gene began his career in the trucking industry.

 

Gene was a Transportation Equipment Operator for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and fully enjoyed the winter months plowing snow in the West Hanover area. Gene enjoyed the comradery of his coworkers and always had a way of putting a smile on everyone’s face.

 

Gene enjoyed bowling at ABC North Lanes in Harrisburg, PA, going to Hershey Park in the summer with his wife, going to the beach and spending time with his family and friends. He loved slap stick comedy and was an avid history buff. On his down time, Gene would be found watching original Looney Tunes Cartoons. Gene lived by and taught his wife and daughters to never live life too seriously. He was well known for his sarcastic remarks, quick whit and constant jokes. Gene is survived by his mother, Anna J. Maruschak, his wife Wendy P. Maruschak and his adored pets Beggy and Hissy. Gene is also survived by his daughter Megan L. and husband Donald C. Bender of Liverpool, his daughter Alicia M. Wolfgang Shaeffer of Harrisburg, his grandsons, Tyler A. Wolfgang, Collin R. Shaeffer and Connor R. Shaeffer and granddaughter, Michaela G. Shaeffer all of Harrisburg, brother, James “Tony” Maruschak of Philipsburg, and uncle, Bill Maruschak of Harrisburg. He is also survived by his “granddogs”, Molly, Jack and Zoe Bender and Bentley and Kimber Shaeffer and many other extended family.

A visitation will be held at the Susquehanna Rescue Fire Company, 3701 N 6th Street, Harrisburg, PA, 17110, on Thursday, March 12, 2020, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Interment will be done at the private convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dailey Funeral Home in care of Eugene P. Maruschak, 650 S. 28th Street, Harrisburg, PA, 17103, to offset final expense costs.
