Obituary of James C. Grab

James C. Grab passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on March 2, 2025. He was born February 1, 1938, to Henry Grab and Audrey (Herr) Grab. He was an active member of his 1956 graduating class at John Harris High School where he majored in printing. After graduation, he had several different occupations including warehouseman at Sun Oil and commercial artist at Miller’s Furniture Store as well as positions at several different printing firms. In 1967, he became the Director of Printing for the County of Dauphin where he worked until his retirement in 1993. He served in the National Guard and was a Supply Sargeant with Pennsylvania’s 28th Infantry Division. He played several instruments including sax and keyboards with the local oldies bands Sounds of Gold and Remember When. He was incredibly creative and artistic and enjoyed building things and working on home improvement projects.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Henry Donald Grab, and sisters-in-law Gloria Grab and Arlene Deibert. He leaves behind, to celebrate his life, the love of his life and “Kitten” of 64 years, Betty (Engle) Grab, daughters Kim (Grab) Garner and Tracy (Grab) Klinger (Mike Cummings), his grandchildren Eddie “Sport” Klinger, Stephanie Garner, and Jesse Garner, a great granddaughter, Lyra Garner, his niece Debbie (Grab) Marlin, nephew Mark Grab, and brothers-in-law Stanley Engle, Clair Engle and Dean Deibert.
A visitation will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Dailey Funeral Home, 650 S. 28th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17103, with a service to follow at 3:00PM.
