Nancy Ann Schreffler Obituary

Nancy Ann (Burrows) Schreffler, 88, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, with her loving husband of 69 years, William C. Schreffler, by her side. She was born on October 4, 1937, to Harvey and Edith (Reisch) Burrows, in Upper Paxton Township, Pennsylvania. She resided at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown with her husband.

Nancy attended Millersburg School District where she was a member of the Honor Society, yearbook staff, and played basketball. She graduated in 1955 and she worked as a soda jerk at Nelson's Restaurant, Millersburg. In the mid-1950s, she was a Navy Civilian Administrative Assistant at the Ordnance Supply Office, Mechanicsburg, PA, leaving to start a family. Nancy returned to work when her four children were of school age, working at her former high school as a secretary. She was fondly known as "Nurse Nancy" to many students who came to the office in need of a bandage or a word of comfort. When she left the high school, she worked in the Upper Dauphin County Tax Office until she fully retired in 1995.

A resident at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown, Nancy was active in her Millersburg Church, St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran, and is a current member of Christ Lutheran Church, Elizabethtown, and of Sell Memorial Chapel, Elizabethtown. She also enjoyed being part of the Tall Cedars and a Tall Cedar Cheerette.

Her favorite hobbies included gardening, traveling with Bill, creating scrapbooks, researching genealogy, tasting wine, and dressing her outdoor geese. Some of her favorite vacations included camping all over the east coast, driving across the US and down the coast of California, cruises to islands and through the Panama Canal, and a trip to Italy and Switzerland that featured a ride on the Orient Express.

Nancy is survived by her husband William C. Schreffler, children, Eric (Ann Thomas) Schreffler of Stuart, Florida, Carol (Kenneth) Decker of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Debra (Michael) Foote of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and David (Fritzi Mitchell) Schreffler of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, her sister Sandra Bowman, Halifax, Pennsylvania, grandchildren, Amy Schreffler, Catherine DiCristofaro, Ellen Brown, William Decker, Sara Hoffman, Steven Schreffler, Matthew Schreffler, David Foote, and Leah Schreffler, and five great-grandchildren, Daniel Lamoureux, Ariah Schreffler, Henry DiCristofaro, Charlotte Decker, and Ziah Turner.

Memorial donations can be made to Masonic Charities, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania 17022, or to Christ Lutheran Church, Elizabethtown, 125 E. High Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.

If Nancy had a life motto it would be that of the Tall Cedars: Fun, Frolic and Fellowship.
