Valerie Garisto Obituary

Valeriana “Valerie” Garisto, 85, of Harrisburg PA, passed away at her home on December 22, 2025.

Valerie was born on May 4, 1940, in Farindola, Italy, to Fiorindo Camplese and Erminia (Francesconi) Camplese. In 1958, she immigrated to the United States to begin a new chapter in life. Shortly after her arrival, she met and married Vito Garisto, her devoted husband of 62 years.

Valerie will be remembered for her strength, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her family was the center of her life, and her love and legacy will continue through the generations she cherished so dearly.

Valerie enjoyed a long tenure at Nationwide Insurance, where she was respected for her dedication and strong work ethic. Above all, she was a caregiver at heart, always putting others before herself. Valerie showed her love through her cooking, welcoming family and friends with meals that brought everyone together and created lasting memories.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vito Garisto; her son, Bruno V. Garisto; her parents; and her two brothers. Valerie is survived by her daughters, Maria Swift (Robert) of Audubon, Pennsylvania, and Anna Waigand (Gregg) of Atlanta, Georgia; and her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Garisto of Lemoyne, Pennsylvania. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, Adam and Maura Swift; Nick (Lucey) and Katie Garisto; and Colin and Luke Waigand.
