Jay T. Herbein Obituary
Jay T. Herbein, 92, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 9, 2026, at the Southeastern Veterans Home, Spring City, Pennsylvania. Born August 26, 1933, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, Jay was the son of Jay S. Herbein and Ethel Marion (Thomas). A graduate of Pottsville High School, class of 1951, he was a devoted husband and father and worked tirelessly to support his family, eventually retiring from a long career in the Federal government. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He was passionate about his hobbies as a spelunker (cave exploring) and a beer can collector. He was a decades long member of the National Speleological Society (NSS), the American Breweriana Association (ABA), and the Beer Can Collectors of America (BCCA) and was highly respected in all.
He is survived by his three sons, Michael T. Herbein and his wife Marcie, Scott Herbein, wife Melissa, and Keith Herbein, wife Jackie, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathaleen Lillian Herbein (Carter) in November, 2025, his parents, and his granddaughter Abigail Lillian Herbein.
Jay and Kathy will be buried together at a later date at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Jay will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family and passion for his hobbies, as well as his love for country and western music. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
