Joan M. Cvetko Obituary
Joan M. Cvetko, 68, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania , passed away on April 8, 2026. She was
born on August 29, 1957.
Joan was a 1975 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School. Following graduation, she pursued a
career in nursing, earning her credentials as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She dedicated many
years of service working in hospitals throughout the Harrisburg and Pocono Mountain regions,
where she was known for her strong work ethic and commitment to patient care.
Affectionately known as “Joanie,” she was a naturally creative and artistic person with a
distinctive sense of humor. She enjoyed making others laugh, often through playful practical
jokes, and had an easy way of connecting with people. She was known among coworkers for her
constant energy and attention to detail, rarely sitting still and always finding something that
needed to be done.
Joanie frequently babysat her nieces and would often make up elaborate plays and dances for
them to perform for the family. She held a special place in the lives of those who knew her, and
her presence will be remembered in quiet moments as well as in laughter.
She is survived by her mother, Carol Cvetko of Harrisburg; her sisters, Lorraine Flowers of
Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, Marianne Friedman of Baltimore, Maryland, Marlene Cvetko of
Bolingbrook, Illinois; and her brother, John Cvetko of Sherwood, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mike Cvetko, and her brother, Michael Cvetko.
Services will be private for family and close friends.
