Andrew (Andreas) Kunz, known to many as Andy, of Paxtang passed away on July 22, 2018, at his home with his wife, Eva, by his side. He was born on October 2, 1934 in Liebling, Rumania and near the end of WWII moved to Austria and then traveled to America in 1956.
He worked with a farmer in Austria and then worked for a brick company in Salzburg. Most of his career in the United States was spent working for Tilemasters where he was well known for his masterful tilesetting, where he eventually retired. He was coaxed out of retirement for a few additional years to continue his expertise tilesetting skills with Roger L. Ford.
Andy was a very loving, quiet and generous man especially with his family and friends. He was happiest when he was spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and close friends. He loved helping out at the Liederkranz in Lancaster, PA where he is a member and enjoyed polka dancing at their German club dances and listening to his German music at home and in his car as well as traveling in the States and abroad.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Eva Zart Kunz; daughter Margaret Kunz Minnich of Harrisburg and son Andrew M. Kunz of Marysville; granddaughters Darcie Minnich Onkony and husband John-Miguel and Tessa Minnich both from Harrisburg; great-grandsons Emerson Minnich and John-Andreas Onkony of Harrisburg; brother Bernhard Kunz and his wife Maria of Harrisburg; sister Katharina Kunz Kreischer and husband Daniel of Harrisburg; several nieces and nephews and godchildren. He was predeceased by both of his parents Andreas and Phillipina Maichel Kunz.
The celebration of his life is being held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 420 N. Progress Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17109 with Pastor Joel D. Petruschke officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
