Obituary of Jane Graff

Jane Graff, 78, of 100 Mt. Allen Dr., Mechanicsburg, PA, died Thursday, January 26, at her home at Messiah Village. Jane was a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother, as well as a devout Catholic. Upon graduation from Punxsutawney Area High School in 1956, Jane worked as a legal secretary before marrying and dedicating her life to homemaking. She enjoyed spending time and sharing laughter with her children and grandchildren, being outdoors, visiting the beach and historic sites, fine dining and listening to live music. A first-generation American, she was proud of her Slovenian heritage, often sharing her love of polka music and dance with others and, when younger, playing the accordion. Born March 4, 1938, in Punxsutawney, Jane was the oldest daughter of the late Charles and Josephine (Penko) Frank. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her life-long sweetheart and husband of 43 years, former teacher and Lt. Col. William Leonard Graff, USAF; younger brother Charlie Frank; brother-in-law Glen Wintermyer; and sister-in-law Betty (Graff) Kopus. Jane is survived by her children, Stephen and Jackie Graff of Woodbury, NJ; Tom and JoAnn (Graff) Hachten of Camp Hill, PA; Andrew and Diane Graff of Greensboro, NC; Mark and Karen (Graff) Carrie of Laguna Niguel, CA; and Mary Graff of Atlanta, GA. Surviving grandchildren include Nathan, Andrew, Isabel, Matthew, Angela and Ethan. Surviving siblings include Carol (Frank) Wintermyer of Enola, and Mike and Sally (Frank) Eckerd of Marysville. Viewing will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 11AM-12PM at St. Margaret Mary Church, 2800 Paxton Church Rd, Harrisburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12PM with the Rev. Paul Helwig as celebrant. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover. Contributions in memory of Jane Graff may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project®.
