Obituary of K. Roland Bergner

K. Roland Bergner, 71, of West Hanover Twp., passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at the PennState Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Roland was born in Springfield, PA on February 12, 1943, son of the late Karl W. and Gertrude (Auner) Bergner. Roland was retired from the Pennsylvania Game Commission. He was an active member of the Antique Automobile Club of America-Hershey, Train Collectors Assoc., Model "A" Restoration Club, Model "A" Ford Club of America, Susquehanna Valley Region Model "A" Restorers Club, Schuylkill County Conservancy (founding member), Manada Conservancy, Transferware Collectors Club, Keystone Concert Band, and the New Cumberland Town Band. He and his wife love collecting antiques, especially white ironstone, and are active members of the White Ironstone China Association. He was also an avid outdoorsmen, enjoying fishing, hunting and spending time at the family cabin in upstate Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife, Susan B. (Yost) Bergner; a son, Anton W. Bergner, and partner Rick Alleman of Harrisburg; two daughters, Ellen E., wife of Steven F. Miller, of Harrisburg; Margaret (Meg) K., wife of Joshua D. Carter, of Pennsburg; a sister, Elisabeth, wife of Rev. Eugene Shiffer, of Lebanon; grandchildren, Paige and Olivia Miller, Calvin and Hayes Carter, and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Harrisburg, PA, at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 25th, followed by a memorial service at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Roland's honor to the Manada Conservancy, the National Audubon Society, or the Schuylkill County Conservancy.
