Obituary of SSgt. Benjamin S. Hines
Staff Sergeant Benjamin S. Hines, age 31, was killed in action on Monday, April 8th in Afghanistan, alongside two of his fellow Marines.
He is survived by his mother and step father Wendy Hines and Giuseppe Tuzzato, and father Scott Hines. He also leaves behind a Fiancée, Anna Steg; six siblings, Meghan Hines, Matthew Hines, Brandon Hines, Domenico Tuzzato, Gabriella Tuzzato, and Giuseppe Tuzzato; and his grandparents Reverend Russell and Marge Hines, and Giulia and Domenico Tuzzato. He is also pre-deceased by Harry and Virginia Stahlman. Benjamin's grandfather, Harry, was also a Military Veteran serving in World War II.
Everyone who met Ben was always greeted with his welcoming smile, uncompromising respect, and infectious sense of humor. He was always a selfless individual who put the needs of others before his own. Benjamin lived his life and laid down his life for God, Family and Country.
Benjamin joined JROTC in high school, and quickly rose to leadership as one of the commanders. He entered the Marines directly out of high school and continued to advance his rank while receiving more than a dozen awards. In the words of one of Ben's men, "Benjamin never made anyone feel like they had a subordinate rank." During two tours of duty, he exemplified both bravery and patriotism. He will be greatly missed, and always loved, by family, friends, and his military family.
Visitation will be held at Christian Life Assembly of God in Camp Hill, PA. on Tuesday, April 23rd from 4-6 pm and 7-9 pm.
