Obituary of Darrell H Carlson

Darrell H. Carlson, 84, of Penbrook passed away Sunday, January 4th, peacefully, at his residence with his beloved wife Beverly at his side. Darrell was born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania on August 13, 1930, a son of the late Hazel L. (Claypool) and William H. Carlson. He was a member of Penbrook Church of God and the Family Worship Center of LA. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He retired from Penn National Insurance Company after 41 years of service. On June 14, 1958 Darrell married the love of his life Beverly Ann B.( Hower) Carlson. During Darrell's life he enjoyed bowling, coaching youth basketball, playing on several church softball leagues, singing in the choir, teaching the men's Sunday school class, being a church camp counselor and singing with the German Military Choir during his Military service. Darrell also was an avid Penn State and Cowboys Football Fan. Darrell is survived by his loving wife Beverly Ann B. (Hower) Carlson; a son, Darrell T. and his wife Deloris L. Carlson, of Reading, PA; a daughter, Deborah A. and her husband Jeffrey M. Peters, of Lancaster, PA; a brother, Ronald J. and his wife Marge Carlson, of Camp Hill, PA; 2 Grandsons, Joshua T. and his wife Jessica A. Carlson of Alburtis, PA; Zachary M. and his wife Brittany L. Carlson of Dillsburg, PA; 1 Great granddaughter Avery R. Carlson and several Nieces and Nephews. Also surviving is his beloved dog Shalyn. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by a brother William G. Carlson, 2 sisters Almeda Moss; Gloria Mazich; and his beloved sheltie dogs Nicholas and Shamus. At the request of Darrell there will be no formal funeral services. The Family wishes to sincerely thank Hospice, Drs. Reninger, D’Amico, & Hechenluber & all the staff, and many friends and neighbors for their kindness and compassion.
