Lawrence J. Antoun Obituary

Lawrence Jeffrey Antoun, 68, of Harrisburg passed away September 24 of heart failure during a battle with cancer. Larry was born June 20, 1952 in Meadville, Pennsylvania to the late Frederick G. Antoun Sr., and Annette Adelman Antoun. He graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in 1970 after variously delighting and testing the patience of numerous priests, nuns, and lay teachers, then attended HACC, where he worked on the first April Fools edition of the campus newspaper. He made his career in advertising and graphic design, most recently at the family business, The Paxton Herald and was CEO of LJA Video. An enthusiastic sportsman who loved hunting, camping, fishing, and boating with family and friends, Larry was also an avid cook, professional videographer, and lover of tools and gadgets. He put his talents to use on treks that took him to four continents, and at family events, where he loved to showcase Lebanese specialties. Larry was preceded in death by his father, brother Mark, and sister-in-law DeEtta. He will be remembered by his mother; siblings Frederick Antoun Jr., Gregory Antoun (Christie), Laureace McCarthy (Ed), Scott Antoun (Carole), Jonathan Antoun (Maryleigh), and Lisa Mulholland; Uncle, Adrien Adelman (Letha); and the many nieces, nephews, and their children who knew “Uncle Larry” as a jokester and teller of tall tales, fixer of broken toys, master of 4th of July fireworks, patient driving instructor, and fierce protector.  A visitation/remembrance will be held at Gilbert L. Dailey Funeral Home in Harrisburg on October 10, 2020 from 10 am to 12 pm. Larry humorously described himself as a "hunting, fishing, gutting, skinning PA Democrat" and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his mail-in ballot. In lieu of flowers, Larry asked that his friends and family vote, or help register others to vote. The Gilbert L. Dailey Funeral Home is Honored to Serve The Antoun Family. 650 South 28 th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17103.
