Nana Lewis (Kohr)

Obituary of Nana L. Lewis (Kohr)

Nana Kohr Lewis, 95, of Colonial Park Care Center, died suddenly Saturday evening of complications of pneumonia. She was born in Harrisburg, a child of the depression—one of the greatest generations. She graduated from William Penn High School in 1943, and worked repairing airplane engines at Middletown Air Depot during World War II. After the war she met and married Frank Lewis, and became a wonderful, caring mother. When Frank died, she was left alone to care for her five, young daughters. She worked hard to put a roof over their heads, provide a Catholic education, and prepare them for the future. She gave them the love and support they needed to become independent women. She was greatly loved by her daughters Tamea Heicher, Diane (John) Weltmer, Frances (Colman) Wessel, Nana Crist, and Dorothy Young. She is survived by grandchildren, step-grand children, and great-grand children. She will be greatly missed, but lovingly remembered. A private visitation and mass will be held at St. Catherine Laboure on Thursday, January 21st. Burial will be at Holy Cross cemetery. In lieu of flowers Donations may be made to St. Catherine Laboure school, or The Silence of Mary Home.
