Obituary of Bob McHugh
Robert James McHugh, born in Mount Carmel, PA, on July 6, 1948, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at UPMC Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg. Bob was predeceased by his parents, James F. McHugh and Dorothy (Penman) McHugh, sister Virginia (McHugh) Rodenhaber, survived by his sister Linda (McHugh) and Butch Kohr of Palmyra, PA. He graduated from Bishop McDevitt in 1966 and from Williamsport Area Community College in 1968 with a degree in automotive engineering. Bob was a true “car guy” and the classics were his Achilles heel, especially a 1962 Corvette. He raced his own 1969 Roadrunners at South Mountain and other local tracks, and he was the mechanic for the Early Mods #119 car that ran at Silver Springs. After 20 years in the automotive industry he then worked at The Patriot News until his retirement. His other loves were his wife of 43 years, Dee (Lewis) McHugh, his daughter, Annette McHugh and son, Bobby McHugh. Pride would beam from every corner of his smile when “his Annette’s” grandchildren were the topic of conversation. Jordan McHugh-Moore, Jaylin McHugh-Moore and Kobe McHugh-Moore. He is also survived by his nieces, Luanne (Rodenhaber) Hershey (great nephew Nicholas), Cheryl and Kyle Herneisen, Tara (Slick) Keppler (great nephews Noah and Ben) of MN. He was a member of American Legion Post 730, Sons of the American Legion, and PFCHA. There are so many little things that will be missed, especially his cooking: his secret spaghetti sauce, chili, and chop-suey to name just a few. Bob has gone to the great car garage in the sky!
