Obituary of Charles H. Keel

Charles H. Keel, 96, passed away on Friday, July 20 surrounded by his family. He was born on May 19, 1922 in Marysville, PA. He was the son of the late Clyde Keel and Hazel Morris. He graduated from Duncannon High School in 1940. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the 12th Armored Division in the European Theatre, was a POW and a recipient of the French Legion of Honor Medal. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister for 38 years. He loved the church Festivals where he ran the Milk Bottle Pitch. He was a railroad engineer at Enola for over 40 years, beginning with the Pennsylvania Railroad and retiring from Conrail. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna, his brother, Lester, and his sisters Dorothy Simmons and Thelma Krick. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy of Harrisburg; his son, Stephen and his wife Rosemary; his granddaughter, Brianne and her husband Bryan Davis , his grandson, Patrick Keel and three great grandsons, all of Mechanicsburg. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 26 at St. Margaret Mary Church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg. A viewing will be held at the church from 10:00 to 11:00am with the funeral mass following at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
