Mildred “Millie” Koons, 78, of Harrisburg, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on June 3, 2022. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home. Born on May 2, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Pauline (Miller) Potteiger. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family, baking sweet treats with her grandchildren, going to outdoor concerts with her husband, and sharing a laugh and a kind word with everyone she met. She loved The Lord and was a member of Mt. Laurel Church of God for many years. More than anything she was a wonderful wife, caring mother, amazing grandmother, doting great-grandmother, thoughtful sister, and kind friend. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Donald “Donnie” Koons; daughter, Emily (Andy) Peterson; granddaughter, Bryanna (Evan) Schoffstall; great-granddaughter, Sienna Schoffstall. Son, Don (Deb) Koons; grandchildren, Alicia (E.C.) Sipe and John (Ashley) Krell; great-grandchildren, Erick, Anthony, and Trinity Crankfield, and Avery and Michael Krell. Son, Chad (Raychel) Koons; grandchildren, Emma and Jackson Koons. Brother, Jesse (Jeanne) Potteiger; sisters, Minerva (Earl) Conner and Pauline (Carroll) Harris; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. She is predeceased by her grandson, Robby Krell; sister, Patricia Kennedy; and brothers, John Potteiger and James Potteiger. A celebration of life will take place on Monday, June 13, 2022 with a visitation at 11am and a memorial service to follow at 12 noon at Dailey Funeral Home, 650 S 28th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17103.
