Obituary of Christopher Jon Huntzinger

Christopher Jon Huntzinger suddenly passed away, Tuesday September 18th while on vacation in Ocean City Maryland. Chris was a 1975 Graduate of Trinity High School in Camp Hill. He received his bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University where he was a member of Alpha Phi Omega. Chris had a passion for life. He loved meeting new people and was always excited about something. To say he was an extreme sports enthusiast would be an understatement. Chris was loyal to his friends, devoted to his family and dedicated to his country. He was a charter member of Squadron 730, Sons of the American Legion. He lived and breathed this organization, working up the ranks and eventually held the office of National Commander, 2012-2013. Chris was of Catholic faith, a member of St. Catherine Laboure Church and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop John W. Shanahan Assembly 917. He was also a member of several Fraternal and Community based organizations including, The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 730, West Shore Elks Lodge #2257, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Carlisle, Progress Fire Company Home Association and Linglestown Fire Fighters Home Association. He was currently employed by the American Legion post 730 where he has worked for over 30 years. He was also currently working at the West Shore Elks. Chris was the son of the Paul and Harriet Huntzinger of Carlisle. He was predeceased by his father Paul Huntzinger and a nephew Christopher Huntzinger. He is survived by his mother Harriet of Lemoyne, sister Theresa of Maryland and six nieces and nephews who he loved with all his heart. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of over 20 years, Kathleen ( Kat ) Huntzinger. This is a loss that has been truly felt by people all across our great country. Viewings will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 5:30PM-9PM and on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 9AM-10AM at the Dailey Funeral Home 650 South 28th St. Harrisburg PA 17103. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 11AM at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Chris's honor to the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation.
