Obituary of Anna June Ward

Anna June Ward, 92, of Harrisburg and formerly of Sunbury, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2023.
Known by family and friends as June, she was born on June 20, 1930 to the late James P. Ward, Sr. and Blanche L. (Jones) Ward. She was also predeceased by her brother, James P. Ward, Jr.
June graduated from Sunbury High School in 1949, and was employed in Operator Services with the former Bell Telephone Company, and later AT&T, until her retirement.
A long-time member of St. Margaret Mary’s parish in Harrisburg, June was past President of the St. Margaret Mary Council of Catholic Women, and a member of the Harrisburg Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, the Diocesan Charismatic Service Team, the St. Margaret Mary Charismatic Prayer Group, and the Church Choir. June was also an Associate of the Precious Blood and a faithful Adorer of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel at her Church. June was an avid traveler, visiting several European countries including the former Yugoslavia.
June is survived by her niece and nephew-in-law and caregivers, Alice M. and Larry A. Belmont II. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary E. Ward; nieces Joan M. and Christine M. Ward; nephew Michael J. Ward; and their children.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Gilbert L. Dailey Funeral Home, 650 S. 28th Street, Harrisburg 17103. The Rosary will follow from 7:00-8:00 pm. A viewing will also be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 9:30-10:30 am at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg 17110. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am. A graveside service and burial will be in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, 900 Packer Street, Sunbury 17801, later the same date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Silence of Mary Home, 850 State Street, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
Mr. and Mrs. Belmont would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Viva Senior Living at Harrisburg and Amedisys Hospice Care for their kindness, dedication and support to their beloved Aunt June.
