Obituary of Claire Rose Bavaria
Claire Rose Bavaria, 62, of Mechanicsburg, PA passed away Monday December 16th, surrounded by family, from complications related to cancer. She was born in Peterborough, NH to Jerry and Claire Maniscalchi in March of 1951. Claire graduated from Conant High School in Jaffrey, NH and went on to receive a degree from Bryant University in Providence, RI. Following college Claire moved to Washington DC where she began working for the federal government, and where she met her husband Dennis Bavaria (an Air Force sergeant) while working at the Pentagon. Claire and Dennis married in 1975 and lived throughout the DC metro area, were stationed in Nairobi, Kenya for two years, and had two sons Anthony and Christopher. The family eventually moved to Harrisburg, PA where she continued her career working in the federal government and retired as the Administrative Management Program Director for the USDA Rural Development State Office in the spring of 2013. In her lifetime Claire was a volunteer youth director, a CCD teacher, was active in her church, helped raise money for various charities, loved to travel, always had a smile on her face, and was a devoted mother and wife. She is survived by her husband Dennis, her sons Anthony and Christopher, her sisters Jeanne, Gerelyn, and Shelly, and her loving extended family. Her wonderful spirit and life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church at 225 Salt Rd., Enola, PA with a family greeting time from 9AM-11AM at the church. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made "In memory of Claire Bavaria" to St. Vincent's Mission, PO Box 232, David, KY 41616.
