Obituary of Kathryn A. Dougher

Kathryn A. Dougher, 79, of Harrisburg, died peacefully surrounded by her family on August 24, 2023, after a long illness. Kathy was born in Pottsville to Paul and Kathryn Platzer. She leaves behind her beloved husband Patrick, of 53 years. In 2020 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family. Also surviving are her daughters, Susan McCullough, Ann Marie Kerr, and Megan Selvey. Kathy had five grandchildren, Killian, Shannon, Nichole, Rebecca, and Brandon, and four great-grandchildren, Nahla, Xander, Caleb, and Joey. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Rosemary Boyer and Eileen Sitlinger, first husband Lester Adams, and sons-in-law Thomas McCullough and Douglas Kerr. A homemaker and caretaker, Kathy worked as a library aid at Holy Family School and was employed in the BonTon warehouse. She was an avid woman of faith, attending mass regularly and waking up early every day to pray the rosary. In her later years she selflessly took care of her family when they were ill, including her mother Kathryn, son-in-law Tom, and sister-in-law Mary Ann Fuller. Kathy loved working in her garden, wearing her favorite bright colors yellow and coral, and completing at least one 1,000-piece puzzle weekly. She enjoyed trips to Florida and the New Jersey shore and going for long walks. Her favorite times were spent with her family and friends. A viewing will be held at 6:30pm on Tuesday, August 29th at Gilbert L. Dailey Funeral Home in Penbrook with a recitation of the rosary to follow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 30th at St. Margaret Mary Church and she will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery.
