Obituary of Andrew J. Green II

Please share a memory of Andrew to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Andrew J. Green II, 90, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024, at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pennsylvania. He was born on June 17, 1934, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to Andrew J. Green Sr. (Pop Pop) and Cecilia M. Fornwald (Dahmie). Andrew is preceded in death by his parents and god-daughter Tammy Jo (TJ) Potteiger. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Eileen J. Green, and four children: Angela Gockley, (husband Brian), Michael Green (wife Denise), Diane Renner (husband Keith), and Patrick Green (partner Katherine Baradaran and sons Andrew and Alex), sister Dorothy (Dottie) Stofko, and sister-and brother-in-law Teri and Joe Hopple. In addition, he will be missed by his grandchildren Alyssa Cashner (Bruce), Jena Peters (Joe), Brett Green (Jordan), David Gockley, Andrew (Drew) Stwalley, Lauren Stwalley, Kelsey Renner, and Lily, Bruce Jr., and Ethen Cashner; also great grandchildren Cameron and Carter Peters, and, nieces/nephews Joe, Lynn, Andy, Linda, Brad, and Sherry. Andy was a kind and generous man with many talents and accomplishments, but most importantly he was a great husband and dad. He graduated from Devry Institute, formerly known as De Forest Training School in Chicago as a machine designer, worked briefly at Macko’s TV Repair, and at AMP, Inc. for 40 years. His retirement was celebrated with a road rally in recognition of his years as a member of the Suburban Sports Car Club rally group. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish, where he was Cubmaster of Pack 360 for 4 years, as well as a volunteer bus driver for school activities. He loved cars, owned many, and luckily was an inveterate auto mechanic. He was a loving father who taught his children many things, including the value of working with their hands, and to always date their work (with a Sharpie would be best). Andy was handy with tools, was an inventor-fabricator, and an electrical wizard. A viewing will be held on October 21, 2024, 10:00 a.m., at Saint Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church, 607 Stoney Creek Road, Dauphin, Pennsylvania, 17018 with a mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Shoop’s Cemetery, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Andy’s honor may be made to Penn State Health Office of Development, PO Box 852 Mail Code CA530, Hershey, PA 17033 (memo: 3rd floor Comfort Care Cohort Project), Visiting Nurse Association of Central PA, or Hospice of Central Pennsylvania.
