Vesta Ringert

Obituary of Vesta Jean Ringert

On March 14, 2015, Vesta Jean Ringert passed away peacefully after 105 well-lived years, surrounded by her beloved daughters, Linda McBeth and Beverly Maynard, son-in-law Dr. John Maynard, Jr., of Mechanicsburg, PA, and granddaughter Terri Trenchard of Ellicott City, MD. She is also survived by grandson, John Maynard, III, of Burlington, VT, a grandson-in-law, and two great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Henry Ringert. Born on September 14, 1909, and raised in Hazelton, PA, Vesta lived in Wormleysburg, PA since 1937. A devoted wife and mother, she was also involved in church and school activities. A dedicated citizen, Vesta received a commendation for voting in every election for 50 years; and at the age of 100, was given a key to the Borough of Wormleysburg. Her legacy of selfless giving, hard work and purposeful determination will live on within her family and all who knew her. Services will be private. Donations can be made to Hospice of Central PA. The Dailey Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ringert family. www.daileyfuneralhome.com From 1985 to 1988, I lived in the upstairs apartment from Vesta on North 2nd Street. She was a very sweet lady, and she always treated me and my then-boyfriend, now husband, very well. I enjoyed the three years that I lived there. She sometimes fed me when I came home from work, or watched for me if I was out late. She had amazing stories to tell about her life, and about Wormleysburg. While I was living there, I came to like Wormleysburg so much that I decided to live there permanently. Unfortunately, after I moved out to get married, I lost touch with Vesta although I still live nearby. I remember speaking to a man who was walking through our neighborhood last summer, who told me that Vesta was no longer living at home. I was surprised when he told me that she was over 100 years old, because I hadn't known how old she was when I lived there. She always seemed so lively and on the go. I'm sure you will miss her very much. She was a great lady and I'm glad that I got to know her. Please accept my condolences. Alice Belmont
