Uncle Norman was a kind and thoughtful man. I have memories of him sitting at the kitchen table in my grandmothers house reading the newspaper. He was always cheerful and smiling. He would take for rides in his MG, I would watch him shift gears am I remember the smell of the leather seats. One day he came home after work when he was a bank examiner and sat at that table reading his newspaper, very calm and content and when grandmom asked him about his day he replied “oh we were robbed at the bank I was examining” and he laughed, we both looked at him in surprise and grandmom peppered him with questions in which he replied with a laugh it was no big deal. Uncle Norman always had bandaids on his fingers in those days because he counted all the coins by hand. He really thought the whole robbery experience was funny, every time he spoke of it he laughed. That was Uncle Norman. He was a classic gentleman, always kind and considerate of others, not wanting to upset his mother by the perils of his job. He will be missed.
